Epoxy patio and alfresco flooring in Caloundra

Tom's based in Caloundra, so epoxy patio and alfresco floors around town are close to home. Covered patios, back alfrescos and outdoor entertaining areas get a seamless flake floor that hoses clean — laid over the old concrete and, in a lot of cases, straight over the existing tiles.

Local to Caloundra

Covered alfrescos, close to the beach.

Plenty of Caloundra living happens under the patio roof — whether that's a few streets back from Kings Beach, Moffat or Golden Beach, or out in Pelican Waters and Caloundra West. Those floors cop sand off feet and towels, wind-blown rain, and full sun on the uncovered edges.

Tiles and bare concrete make hard work of that, because grout lines and pores hang onto grit. A flake floor is one continuous sealed surface, so sand and dirt hose straight off, and the polyaspartic topcoat is UV-stable, which matters on the edges that catch the sun.

Being Caloundra-based also makes the first step easy: getting Tom round to look at the patio and quote is a short drive. For the full rundown on how outdoor floors are done, see the patios and alfresco page.

The process

How a Caloundra patio gets done.

  1. Look and quote

Tom comes round, checks the slab or tiles and how the water runs off, and quotes for free.

  2. Grind and make good

The surface is diamond-ground, and cracks and low spots are filled so water still runs the right way.

  3. Base coats and flake

Epoxy base coats go down with your flake colour broadcast through, right out to the edges.

  4. Topcoat

Sealed under a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat.

Questions

Caloundra patio questions.

Do you do epoxy patios and alfrescos in Caloundra?

Yes. Tom's based in Caloundra, so patios and alfrescos in town and the suburbs around it — Pelican Waters, Golden Beach, Currimundi, Little Mountain and Caloundra West — are close to home.

Can you lay epoxy over the old tiles on my patio?

Often, yes. In a lot of cases a flake floor goes straight over existing tiles, so there's no need to lift them. Loose or drummy tiles have to be sorted first, which is one of the things Tom checks when he comes round.

Will an epoxy patio cope with sand and salt air near the beach?

It's well suited to it. A flake floor is one continuous sealed surface, so sand and salt spray hose off rather than working into grout or bare concrete, and the polyaspartic topcoat is UV-stable for the parts of the patio that catch the sun.

How much does an epoxy patio cost in Caloundra?

It depends on the size, what's underneath — concrete or tiles — and how much prep it needs, so each patio is quoted after Tom's seen it. Quotes are free.
